Philosophical Narrative therapy
What is philosophical-cultural therapy?
Narrative therapy is about finding a mete-rule, a higher rationally organized descriptive domain.
Reality ranges in a dimensional space of 41 powers of 10. From an electron up to a super bunch of galaxies. Across these dimensions, it is possible to identify different ontological levels AS organized structures and descriptive domains.
Each level carries different meanings: what that is meaningful within a certain level of reality, it does not make any sense inside a different level.
Being unaware is an ‘inauthentic life’ to quote Heidegger. Life is can be described. Anyway, if mental processes involved are just a simple syntactic process without semantics, meaningless, life is built upon clichés and trivia, stereotypes.
In linear mathematics, everything is simply the sum of its parts, but a hundred geese flying in a V-shaped flock is much more than the sum of a hundred geese. In the ‘language of chaos’, that is, the language of existence, everything is simply greater than the sum of its parts.
Sometimes we believe we are not that good in writing; the point is we are not good at seeing, observing. Accordingly, we cannot describe it.
A good writer lives on convictions rather than simple beliefs. To reach out the conviction, we have to doubt by ‘watching’ in a transcendental manner, beyond what that appears, getting progressively closer to reality, grasping the object as purified from clichés and prejudices, and this is what that in philosophy can be told as the truth, or reality.
To catch phenomena in the way they really appear to consciousness, we need to bracket our own thoughts. What Husserl calls phenomenological epochè. To believe reality to be a mental process is a category mistake, called psychologism.
WHY IS PHILOSOPHICAL NARRATIVE THERAPY RELEVANT?
The ones who get into PNT are looking for a meta-rule, a higher and more sophisticated level of description. This path allows a changing perspective to understand the lower level into which one is involved.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
t works on the regular basis of three levels: 1) ‘See’ with clarity 2) Investigating one’s own description level’s structure 3) To activate the narrative aspect of the Self.
Meetings can be held at a distance, by reading, writing exercises, phone calls, and video calls.
How much is the fee?
The fee is 140 euros per week, to be paid in advance.
How long does it take?
Narrative therapy is a cultural path and the duration depends on each person; the process usually requires some months.
Who can start philosophical narrative therapy?
Participation is not open to anybody. The person has to be motivated and committed and this decision is up to the consultant.
