Working with humanitarian organisations made a direct experience with poverty, social seclusion, integration, inclusion. Experience with the Danish Charity Church put me in contact with poverty inside one of the wealthiest and social advanced counties in the world. Homeless people moved from the farthest counties looking after a better world, a better life’s conditions founding in most cases quite a harsh life, with no social rights and no concrete and productive help. They are barely tolerated. People are sleeping in the churches in the night and hosted for some hours in some shelters in the daytime, getting a place where to sleep, hot meals and some internet access. Many of them are Italian, seeking for some job in black. There are no residence permits and no job permits. Volunteers offer hot meals, talking, CV assistance.

Inside the Luxembourg Red Cross programme I experienced the Wanterauktion, together with Caritas and Interaction,to shelter homeless people during the coldest months in the winter. Much more organized than Danish Organizations, Luxembourg offers a more structured help to the many who escaped from despair, wars from North Africa countries, from East, through Portugal, Spain, Greece, Italy. There neither documents nor residence permissions. Those social not included people are brought into social existence only during the winter time,  nourished, warmed, cured. Twice a week doctors visit them and they get health care assistance. It’s it is a nineteenth-century type aid, based on blankets, hot meals, medicines, while wi-fi and internet connection is not provided. Digital alphabetization does not exist and many of these persons remain trapped inside the  contradiction of EU laws and decades of life in Europe, far from their own countries.

LISKO  is an institution about the inclusion of people who received asylum. There are weekly french conversation meetings where refugees can say something of their own life. Communication is quite difficult for these persons experienced atrocities and wars. After years in camps waiting for receiving the status of refugee, they are now hosted in foyers and are socially isolated. Some of them have a stress-strain syndrome, broken inside and having lost any contact with reality.
